About Captain Mona Shindy, CSC

Mona Shindy, CSC is a renowned, truly inspiring strategic leader and diversity and inclusion champion.

A member of both a cultural and religious minority, she took many non-traditional paths to become a highly successful Navy Captain, engineer, project director, change agent and author. Her story is one of courage, overcoming many barriers and setbacks, being true to self and carving out a path to success against the odds. In the process she created a legacy that is both inspiring to minorities as well as educative for organisations serious about addressing blind spots to get the best out of all employees and target markets.

In 2015 she was recognised on the Australia Day Honours List with a Conspicuous Service Cross for her outstanding contributions to diversity and inclusion programs in Navy. In the same year her concurrent exceptional business leadership performance saw her announced as the National Telstra Business Woman of the Year and Runner Up NSW Woman of the Year.

Her memoir “Shattering Identity Bias” is a story of love, faith, courage, tenacity and, at times, of extreme bias.
