About Bernadette Black AM

People matter to Bernadette Black AM, the founder and CEO of the BRAVE Foundation.

Through her foundation, Bernadette creates pathways for people experiencing long term disadvantage by taking an interagency and collaborative approach with governments, education and community organisations. In 2018 BRAVE was awarded $4.4m funding to run People matter to Bernadette. Individualised relationships matter, and so does creating pathways for groups of people experiencing long term disadvantage by taking an interagency and collaborative approach with governments, education and community organisations.

Her pioneering work with the Australian Federal Government has created lasting systemic change and impact, both economically and through social progress.

In 2021, Bernadette was award a Member of the Order of Australia for her service to community groups, governance and service to her local council.
