About Gavin Wanganeen

Two-time Premiership winner, Brownlow Medalist, member of the AFL Hall of Fame, lauded contemporary Aboriginal artist, businessman, and advocate for First Nations Peoples, Gavin Wanganeen is truly an AFL great.

He played over 300 senior games during his AFL career with Essendon and Port Adelaide.

He won premierships with both clubs and individual awards that led to a dedicated grandstand at Adelaide Oval in 2015.

Gavin was the first Indigenous player to win a Brownlow Medal and reach 300 games. Post-AFL, he continues to be a role model in the arts and business, with ownership in MURRA Partners and JOOJU Coffee.

The causes he is a crusader for are too many to mention, including his scholarship at the University of South Australia, directed towards supporting Indigenous youth and education.
