Louise Sauvage OAM

Louise Sauvage OAM is one of Australia's most successful Paralympians and one of the world's most outstanding athletes.

She dominated wheelchair racing from her first international appearance at the age of 16 until her retirement at the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games. She held world records across all distances from 100m to 5000m on the track and recorded victories in some of the worlds most prestigious road races including the Boston, Los Angeles and Honolulu Marathons.

Louise competed at four Paralympic Games, four IPC Athletics World Championships, Commonwealth Games in 2002, four IAAF World Athletic Championships and three Olympic Games in the 800m Wheelchair Demonstration Race.

In retirement, Louise turned to mentoring and coaching and is the National Coach with the Australian Wheelchair Track and Road Program at the NSW Institute of Sport. She is coach to individual athletes including Madison de Rozario and has already guided them to, Paralympic, World Championship and Commonwealth Games gold medal success. In 2018 Louise was named Sport NSW Coach of the Year.
